Faculty of Engineering Tenure-Track Faculty Position Civil Engineering and Sustainable Design
The Faculty of Engineering at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) invites applications for tenure-track positions in Civil Engineering and Sustainable Design, preferably at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department will also consider exceptional applicants at the level of Associate Professor and applicants for visiting positions in all ranks.
Applicants from all research areas related to Civil Engineering and Sustainable Design will be considered. The successful candidate must hold a Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and must demonstrate potential for quality research and teaching. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as part of the Civil Engineering and Sustainable Design curriculum, and must demonstrate strong research potential that will lead to external funding and scholarly publications.
The faculty candidates are expected to teach and conduct research in their conventional areas of specialties, with emphasis on current trends such as: sustainable design and materials; digital construction; smart systems and technologies; “big” data analytics and AI; climate change mitigation; and critical civil infrastructure resilience and solutions.
Candidates with teaching experience, industry or post-doctoral appointments, and a record of grant funding and scholarly publications are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants interested in visiting positions are also encouraged.

The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo, a twin campus of the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, is approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) as a branch campus of the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon. AUB operates under a charter granted by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), which registers the university’s degree programs and has approved AUB Mediterraneo as a twin campus of AUB.
