Faculty Position, McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering

The McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering (MSPE) at The University of Tulsa invites applications and
nominations for a tenure-track, entry-level, faculty position in the area of drilling and well completions.
A candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in petroleum engineering or a closely related field and the ability
to provide teaching excellence in a wide variety of petroleum engineering and energy courses; specifically,
in drilling engineering and well completions area, both at undergraduate and graduate levels.
The candidate will also be expected to develop/maintain an active, externally sponsored, research
program as well as to participate in service activities. Research focus is expected to be on drilling and well
completions related topics. Expertise in data analytics and machine learning techniques is preferable. An
industry experience in drilling/well completions is preferred.

MSPE offers bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees. Current enrollment includes about 120
undergraduate students and 65 graduate students. For the past five years, we have averaged over five
million dollars per year in external funding, with approximately 30% of this total coming from
governmental sources and the remainder from the oil and gas industry. Our unique research strength is
evident from 9 research consortia and JIPs funded by industry with an excellent balance between applied

The University of Tulsa is a private comprehensive university with approximately 4000 students enrolled
in its five academic colleges. MSPE resides administratively within the College of Engineering and Natural
