About the position

 

The position is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen the professional group in industrial economics and technology management at Gjøvik.

 

The position is a 4-year position, where 25% of the position is related to teaching and administrative tasks, but it can also be completed in 3 years without any required teaching. The candidate will be a part of the department and the research group's research activity and participate in the development of the professional group at Gjøvik.

 

The position reports to the team leader and will receive guidance from an interdisciplinary research team.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Norwegian model is known through 3-party cooperation, where the employee and employer organizations negotiate salaries and other labor markets supported by the state. The model also promotes safety for employees and focus on HSE through democratic processes and cooperation in the workplace. Other effects are mobility in the workforce, learning focus and competence building.

 

The scholarship will be used for the study of digitization and other technological changes. What does such technological change mean on the Norwegian model. In particular, it is interesting to link an overall perspective (eg LO and NHO) with the changes that take place inside the companies. Examples of research areas:

 

  • Digital transformation processes, economic restructuring patterns and their significance for the Norwegian model.
  • Socio-economic analysis and profitability analysis of ongoing changes initiated by technological changes focusing on the impact this has on the Norwegian model.
  • Impact of political decisions on technological development in a globalized world.
  • How the Norwegian model creates technological innovations in various industries with different technological maturity levels.
  • Develop expertise for different industries about the Norwegian model in light of the digital change.

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

The main goal of the position as a research fellow is to qualify for work in research positions. The qualification requirement is completed major / master's degree (equivalent to 120 credits) with a strong academic background in social economics or equivalent education that is equal to B or better compared to NTNU's grading scale. Applicants without letter grades from previous studies should have an equally good academic basis. Applicants with a weaker grade background may be considered if it is documented that the candidate is particularly suitable for a PhD education.

 


The position requires in-depth knowledge of the Norwegian model both in a macro, meso and micro level. 


Good oral and written presentation skills in Norwegian and English is a prerequisite.

 

We refer to the Regulations on Conditions of Employment for positions as postdoctoral fellow, PhD candidate, scientific assistant and specialist candidate for general criteria for the position. 

 

Personal characteristics

 

The candidate must work independently, but at the same time have good working skills. Creativity is also a key feature that will be appreciated. In the assessment process of the candidate, thoughts about possible research projects or carried out relevant research will be emphasized.

 

When assessing the best qualified, emphasis should be placed on education, experience and personal suitability, as well as motivation for the position.

Salaries and terms

 

 

The position as fellow student code 1017 is paid gross NOK 449,400 per. years depending on qualifications and seniority. From salaries, 2% of statutory deposits are withdrawn from the Government Pension Fund.

 

 

The employment period is 3 years or 4 years with 25% duty work. Appointment to a PhD position requires admission to the PhD program in economics and management (https://www.ntnu.no/studier/phol). As a research fellow, you undertake to participate in an organized doctoral program within the period of employment, and employment requires that you are actually eligible for admission to the PhD program within three months.

 

The employment takes place on the terms and conditions that apply at all times to employees in the state, and after hiring you must expect that changes can occur in the work area.
