Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This is an adjunct professor position (Lecturer) to teach two sections of ENCE426 in the Fall and Spring.

ENCE426 0101 (25%)
ENCE426 0201 (25%)

Course Description:

Learn the basics of construction documentation methods, with particular emphasis on Building Information Modeling (BIM). Topics include: the fundamentals of assembly, coordination, and maintenance of construction documents and implementation of BIM techniques in the design and construction processes, and; a review of Autodesk, Revit, and Navisworks and other leading BIM software. Lectures from project management faculty supplemented by guest lecturers from the construction industry.

0201 Tu 6:30pm – 9:00pm on campus in EGR 1156
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Master’s or Ph.D. in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Superb interpersonal, observational, and communication skills.
  • Patience, understanding, and empathy.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills.
Preferences:
  • Experience as a university TA or similar.
  • Published papers or research articles.
  • Proof of attendance and participation in conferences is recommended.

Additional Information:
This position requires being on-campus at University of Maryland, College Park, on Tuesdays from 3 pm to 9 pm this coming Fall semester. Future semester timing of classes can be worked out with the instructor. We prefer candidates that emphasize active learning and flipped classrooms to maximize time in-class in the computer lab learning how to use BIM software under the instructor’s expert guidance and with their student peers.

Hiring Range is per semester. Pay scale is based on qualifications and experience.
