Lecturer in Environmental Science

The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for an adjunct faculty position in Building Science for Fall 2023. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach large, graduate-level lecture courses on sustainable, high-performance building design, including passive and active environmental control systems with an emphasis on the thermal environment.

 

Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of contemporary carbon reduction and sustainability performance objectives as well as the ability to apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques, (including appropriate software-based analysis tools) in the context of the architectural design process.

 

The core salary range for this position is $42.97-$66.41 per hour. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

 

USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.

Qualifications: A Master of Building Science degree, Master of Architecture degree or equivalent is required. Preference is given to candidates with a proven track record of research and or related professional work or prior teaching experience at recognized schools of architecture.
