Position Title: Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice - Interior Design Appointment Type: Faculty Job Description: Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Interior Design, in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice to teach undergraduate studios and lectures in the areas including design process, spatial design, materials and finishes, lighting design, color theory and applications, and cultural and historical contexts. This appointment for this position is anticipated to begin August 16, 2025, and the initial length of the appointment will be one semester (ending 12/31/25). The department currently has multiple positions, part-time or full-time. The candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to the department’s teaching mission and participate in institutional service. Minimum Required Qualifications: For the rank of Lecturer:A Master’s degree in Interior Design or related field For the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice:A Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field 5 years of related industry experience Preferred Qualifications:Experience in developing curriculum and assessing student learning outcomes. Familiarity with industry standards and trends in Interior Design. Prior involvement in academic research or professional projects related to Interior Design. Certification or licensure in Interior Design or a related field is a plus.
