Postdoctoral Fellow – Sustainable Concrete

Be a part of a research team conducting research in the area of sustainable concrete


The Opportunity

The Postdoctoral Fellow will assist in the teaching, professional and administrative activities in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and carry out the duties of a Research Associate in the area of sustainable concrete research in the School.


The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Dr Ali Kashani and has no direct reports.


  • Salary: $93,578 - $100,090 (AUD) + superannuation
  • 1-year fixed term contract
  • Full time
  • Location: Kensington Campus – Sydney, Australia

Selection Criteria

About the successful applicant:

  • A PhD qualification in the relevant discipline area, preferably Civil Engineering;
  • Demonstrated track record in ‘Sustainable Concrete’ research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear future research plan aligned with related area of research and ability to continually achieve research excellence relative to opportunity;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach in various courses of Civil Engineering, preferably Construction Engineering, with high quality and innovative teaching and student experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
  • Able in research grant writing and attracting research funding through Australian Research Council and potential industry partners, relative to opportunity;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to perform hands-on experiments in a concrete laboratory environment;
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students, staff and industry partners;
  • Able to plan, organise and achieve multiple work targets and meet deadlines, sometimes in demanding circumstances;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, supervise students, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships;
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities
