About This Opportunity

This project involves the synthesis, characterisation and functionalization of low fouling polymeric materials for potential applications in nanomedicines and low-fouling surfaces. The position requires extensive knowledge of polymer chemistry, especially synthetic polymer chemistry, and bio-nano interactions.

As the Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Synthetic Polymeric Biomaterials you will develop a strong and productive research program in low-fouling polymers and synthesize and characterize novel aqueous-soluble polymeric materials and to examine their biofouling and interactions with cells. You will develop joint research projects for competitive research funding support, and assist in the supervision of Honours students and Higher Degree by Research students.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a PhD in polymer synthetic chemistry, or polymeric nanomedicine and have an  emerging profile in research in the discipline area. You will have evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences and of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities would be an advantage.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term (from February 2021 till December 2023) position at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342- $92,782 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $81,131 - $108,555 per annum.
