About the Position The Department of Product Development, in collaboration with the research center imec, is seeking a doctoral scholarship holder to work on modular electronic architectures, with a focus on chiplet-based system design to improve scalability, reuse, and sustainability. Your research will explore how modular hardware platforms can support adaptable applications such as modular environmental sensing, enabling long-lived, upgradeable, and circular electronic systems for diverse monitoring contexts. Key Responsibilities Conduct research for a PhD thesis on modular electronic architectures. Publish scientific articles related to the research project. Carry out limited teaching and research support tasks for technology-driven design in product development. Profile / Requirements Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Product Development. Strong interest in digital electronics (PCB, IC), system architecture, and semiconductor technologies in the context of smart products. Research qualities aligned with the faculty and university research policies. Teaching competences in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision. Commitment to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation. What We Offer Initial 1-year doctoral scholarship, renewable up to 4 years after a positive evaluation.
