Professor of the Practice in Innovation School Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Position Description The Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) seeks applications for a Professor of the Practice in Innovation endowed through a generous gift from Jorge Paulo Lemann (‘61). The Professor of the Practice in Innovation is a five year, half-time renewable appointment with an expected start date of January 1, 2023. The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship as related to science and technology and will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Professor of the Practice in Innovation will be expected to leverage and expand on current activities in innovation and entrepreneurship at SEAS and in collaboration with Harvard Business School including but not limited to courses such as ES94: Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Practical and Academic Insights, ES139/239: Innovation in Science and Technology, and ES236 Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship and to extra curricular programs such as the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard (TECH), Harvard Innovation Labs, and HBS Undergraduate Technology Innovation Fellows Program. Basic Qualifications Terminal degree in a relevant field. A PhD in science or engineering is not required but is preferred. Additional Qualifications Candidates should have a strong track record in the practice of innovation and entrepreneurship and should be able to demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
