Work­ing field:

Research and devel­op­ment tasks within the DFG pro­ject "Elec­tronic ana­log mul­ti­plexer for high-speed com­mu­nic­a­tion sys­tems" in cooper­a­tion with the Fraunhofer Insti­tute for Tele­com­mu­nic­a­tions, Hein­rich-Hertz-Insti­tute, HHI.
The tasks include:
  • Research in the field of digital sig­nal pro­cessing and mod­el­ing of elec­tronic high-speed com­pon­ents
  • Plan­ning, setup and exe­cu­tion of labor­at­ory exper­i­ments
  • Coordin­a­tion of the work with pro­ject part­ners
  • Pub­lic­a­tions of the pro­ject res­ults in journ­als
  • Present­a­tion of the pro­ject res­ults at national and inter­na­tional meet­ings and con­fer­ences
  • Oppor­tun­ity PhD thesis pre­par­a­tion is given


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in elec­trical engin­eer­ing
Also required are:
  • Exper­i­ence in digital sig­nal pro­cessing (DSP) for com­mu­nic­a­tion applic­a­tions
  • Exper­i­ence in mul­tiple-input-mul­tiple-out­put (MIMO) chan­nel estim­a­tion algorithms
  • Exper­i­ence in exper­i­mental char­ac­ter­iz­a­tion of ana­log mul­ti­plex­ers (with more than 60 GHz)
  • Exper­i­ence in real-time imple­ment­a­tion of DSP algorithms in VHDL as well as test and veri­fic­a­tion on FPGAs
  • Exper­i­ence in pro­gram­ming with MAT­LAB, Python and C
  • Very good writ­ten and spoken Eng­lish skills; good Ger­man lan­guage skills or the will­ing­ness to learn them
  • Exper­i­ence in the area of com­plex soft­ware pro­jects and related work­flows is advant­age­ous (Git, CI/CD, ...)
  • Prac­tical exper­i­ence in a com­mu­nic­a­tions engin­eer­ing labor­at­ory is advant­age­ous, espe­cially the pro­fes­sional hand­ling of meas­ur­ing instru­ments and com­pon­ents
  • Pre­vi­ous exper­i­ence in the field of sim­u­la­tion of elec­tronic cir­cuits, espe­cially high-speed com­pon­ents, is advant­age­ous
