Research Assistant/Associate in Optical Wireless Communications

We are looking to appoint two people to the position of Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering's Electrical Engineering Division, to work on Optical Wireless Communications. Further details of these posts are in the HR7 (Further Information sheet).

The post holders will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are the development of beam steerable VCSEL array, optical wireless link design and construction, publication of research outcomes and providing assistance to other members of the Photonics Systems team.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are: a PhD in in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline, experience in optical communications, with preference for free space optics/optical wireless and/or VCSELs.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level in the first instance, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Salary Range: Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942 Research Associate: £32,816 - £40,322

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 30 months in the first instance.
