The Chair of Turbomachinery and Propulsion now, full time, a scientific / co-worker for the coordination and technical work on a 3.5-year research project for the potential identification and application of auxetic structures in engine construction.

The Technical University of Munich offers a wide range of teaching and research with excellent equipment in an innovative atmosphere. With its research, the Chair of Turbomachinery and Propulsion Systems answers the question of technologies for future engine architectures for aircraft of tomorrow. Here, the development of turbomachinery and the integration of new components to improve the thermodynamic engine cycle process plays a central role, in the spirit of today's climate awareness and the conservation of fossil fuel deposits. The chair pursues this objective in various framework programs and in research collaborations with industrial partners.

You fulfill the following requirements for your position in the position to be filled: • University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related disciplines with a better than average qualification • Excellent and well-founded knowledge in the areas of engine technology, structural mechanics and structural engineering thermal modeling • high degree of enthusiasm for technical-scientific questions of conceptual and simulation-based research • analytical,imaginative and structured way of working as well as independence in the design of the research work • pronounced teamwork and inclination to networked thinking and acting • very good communication and expressiveness in spoken and written German and English • safe handling of common programming languages, MS Office, databases and Image editing • Ability to support teaching in exercises and seminars • Self-initiative, contact and commitment • Willingness to pursue a doctorate

 

tasks

You will be responsible for the coordination and technical work of a 3.5-year research project on the potential identification and application of auxetic structures in engine construction. Within this research project, you will be creating new opportunities to improve structural and thermal behavior in components of future propulsion engines that will be closely linked to additive manufacturing capability. The project has a very innovative character, starting with a potential search within the overall engine through single-component consideration with regard to the introduction of auxetic structures (characterized by the extraordinary condition of a negative Poisson ratio).

They find an internationally oriented working environment with a strong focus on innovations in the field of turbomachines and propulsion systems. There is the possibility for a doctorate. The cast takes place according to suitability, performance and qualification to TV-L in full time and is limited to 3.5 years. Employment takes place within the framework of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz. Severely disabled applicants will be preferred if they have otherwise substantially equal qualifications. The Technische Universität München aims to increase the proportion of women. Applications from women are therefore expressly welcomed.
