The Opportunity

An outstanding opportunity exists for a curious and dedicated Research Fellow to join one of Australia’s best universities and most sought after employers, in the world-class Faculty of Engineering, working on a fascinating project.


The Research Hub for Computational Particle Technology aims to develop and apply advanced theories and mathematical models to design and optimise particulate and multiphase processes that are widely used in the minerals and metallurgical industries. This will be achieved through detailed analysis of the fundamentals governing the fluid flow, heat and mass transfer at different time and length scales, facilitated by various novel research techniques. Research outcomes including theories, computer models and simulation techniques, as well as well-trained young researchers, will generate a significant impact across a range of industries of vital importance to Australia's economic and technological future.


The project is mainly funded by one of the hub industrial partners, aiming at integrating the human agency information into the digital twin modelling of the built environment. It is focused on operation of the workplace where data-driven decision-making is increasingly needed. The position will mainly involve visualization modelling of the built settings, development of human agent representation and data collection protocol, and the coordination with other team members on the research design and simulation modelling including data framework construction, parameter selection, sensor devise selection, analysis protocol and the reliability test.


The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in architecture, environmental science or a closely related field. 


There may be a requirement to spend a period of time in China to work closely with the funding industry partner.


This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
