Research Fellow in Electrical Engineering
University of Queensland
Australia

About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the discipline of applied electromagnetics and antenna technology. It is also expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities in the Research Group and in the School of EECS.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking research; supervising research of higher degree students; and conducting project-related activities on antenna technologies and microwave engineering. We welcome applications from engineers with a broad expertise in electromagnetic theory, computational electromagnetics, and industry-standard electromagnetic simulation tools, as well as prototyping and experimental methods at microwave frequencies.

This is a three-year fixed term position with the aim of development of reconfigurable antennas for structural abnormality detection. During the term of the position, the researcher will be expected to focus on this research project and develop new avenues of research and collaborations. Research areas of particular interest for the project include reconfigurable antennas, metasurfaces, lenses, beam-steering antennas and anti-reflection surfaces.

Key responsibilities will include:

Research: Design antenna and scanning platforms for the project, collaborate on ongoing and new research projects, seek and participate in drafting research funding, publish in reputable journals as lead author, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.

Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students provide day-to-day supervision, performance feedback and training to PhD students.

Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values, collaborate and actively participate in unit activities, assist other academic positions and unit operations during absences, contribute to service roles, administrative processes, decision-making, and committees, engage in service activities outside the unit, develop relationships with industry, government, professional bodies, and the community.
