About the RoleThe Research Fellow will contribute to high-impact research within the School and Research Institutes, undertaking both independent and collaborative projects aligned with the University’s strategic research priorities. A key part of the role is building strong research networks across RMIT and with national partners, ensuring the Fellow’s work is recognised for its contribution to disciplinary advancement. The position offers the opportunity to drive high-quality research outcomes, secure competitive funding, and embed expertise within a supportive and research-active environment. The role has a strong experimental focus, contributing to next-generation rocket and air-breathing propulsion systems under the Joint Chair for Supersonic Propulsion & Flight Technologies. The Fellow will lead experimental campaigns; designing, executing and analysing ground and flight tests, particularly in rotating detonation engines and high-enthalpy propulsion concepts. Working within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers and technical specialists, the successful candidate will help deliver outcomes that shape the future of high-speed flight.
