The Center for Geotechnical Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Geo Umwelt is looking for an experienced scientist for the participation in the research group "Numerics in Geotechnical Engineering" on 01.04.2019.


Numerical Modeling of Mechanical and Hydraulic Behavior of Geomaterials and of Subsoil-Building Interaction Problems 

- Participation in the development of mathematical models (Substance laws for the description of the behavior of geomaterials 
- Programming of new routines as supplement / extension for commercial and "open -source "programs 
- Development, coordination and, if necessary, carrying out of laboratory tests for the determination of model parameters 
- Validation of numerical models by means of model and field tests 
- Solving practical geotechnical problems with numerical methods 
- Conducting courses on the topic" Numerics in geotechnics " 

Requirement profile: 
- University degree (Dipl.-Ing., Master or comparable) in the field of civil engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering 
- experience, possibly completed doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) With focus on the development / application of numerical methods for the modeling of geotechnical problems 
- Comprehensive knowledge of numerical calculation methods, in particular the finite element method 
- Extensive experience in the application of the finite element method for the modeling of geomechanical, hydraulic and coupled problems including pre- and post-processing 
- Strong team and communication skills, ability to independent work, safe acting, own initiative 
- Very good oral and written English skills 
- Experience in the acquisition and coordination of scientific projects 
- Experience in the preparation of scientific reports and publications as well as in the presentation of test results 
- Laboratory knowledge in examination and measurement methods are advantageous 

Place of employment is München-Pasing. The classification is initially based on a two-year temporary full-time position, depending on the individual requirements, in a suitable salary scale for the civil service of the Länder (TV-L E 13)
