Senior Teaching Fellow (CEDA Apprenticeship Tutor)

School of Engineering

£41,526 - £49,553 per annum

Permanent, Full-time

Location: Coventry

Ref: 103242-0920

The School of Engineering is a vibrant, innovative and flexible department in The University of Warwick, providing high-quality education, research and knowledge transfer in engineering and technology. We are recruiting an Apprenticeship Tutor for our BEng Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme (CEDA), which was started in October 2018 and will receive the third year of intake in October 2020.

We are looking for someone with a degree in the field of Civil Engineering and it is essential that applicants have a professional qualification with industrial experience as a civil engineer, which can be with a contractor, consultant or both. We seek to appoint an Apprenticeship Tutor who will support the delivery and assessment of the vocational, work-based elements in the CEDA programme, which can be linked to the End Point Assessment for the IEng qualification. This is a Senior Teaching Fellow post and the role will follow promotion criteria that governs the grade of this teaching-focused post. This is a great opportunity to work in a teaching team and with employers enrolling apprentices on the programme, and to play a key role in the continuing development and delivery of high quality teaching and learning on the CEDA programme. The programme offers upon completion the dual qualifications of an BEng Honours (partial CEng) degree and the IEng qualification.

You will undertake programme-level engagement with the participating employers (14 civil engineering employers already have apprentices on the programme), and provide leadership and administration support to apprenticeship activities as given by the CEDA team. This will involve monitoring the performance of the apprentices by way of the Tripartite Review meetings to ensure they meet both the on- and off-the-job training requirements, working alongside employers to ensure their apprentices fulfil the vocational elements of the apprenticeship.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to colleagues, employers, apprentices and professional institutions, and will have experience of working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

It is expected that successful performance as an Apprenticeship Tutor for the CEDA programme will develop the appointed candidate’s own career and profile as a teaching-focused University member of staff.

Closing date: 28 October 2020.
