The Role The School of Engineering is currently seeking a suitably qualified Technical Officer with Civil engineering background. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, construct, test, review, modify, repair and maintain equipment, experiments and their associated documentation. Also set up and provide technical support for practical classes and shared facilities. You will also write and maintain WHS documentation including risk assessments for both the teaching laboratories and shared facilities, while assisting academic staff in technical and operational aspects of managing large enrolment units. About You You will have completed an advanced diploma or a degree in Civil engineering or in a closely related discipline. You have good problem-solving skills especially in relation to technical and experimental issues. You enjoy working individually or effectively support academic staff and students. You have a passion for workplace health and safety with an ability to identify and manage hazards in the workplace. If you are an excellent communicator with a proactive nature and are flexible and resilient in your approach, then this is a role you will thrive in and a department you will enjoy working with. About Us FSE offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs across a diverse range of disciplines and is home to a number of world-class research centres and facilities. It is comprised of eight departments and one school, each with a different scale and/or discipline specific approach to administration, technical and infrastructure support for research and teaching. The Technical Operations team provide specialised technical support services to the teaching and research activities of the Faculty. The team covers a broad range of capabilities and expertise across laboratory, specialist facilities and field-based activities and are essential for the smooth functioning of both teaching and research within the Faculty.
