Thermodynamics/Mechanics/Structures/Fluids/Manufacturing Technology
Materials/Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering
We're seeking a highly capable and enthusiastic Chemical or Chemical Process Engineer to join MEE's dynamic academic teaching team and be responsible for the delivery, assessment and design of the practical experience in this field of engineering. The teaching here will include laboratory sessions in Chemical Engineering subjects, not only to students studying Chemical Engineering, but also those studying a variety of allied subjects, such General, Automatic Control and Systems, Aerospace and Bioengineering. You will also lead the teaching in the Pilot Plant, a major investment which provides a special environment for future engineers to use, test and explore integrated pilot plants with state of the art process simulations and world-class control systems in a safe environment.

With a commitment to work closely with the Faculty of Engineering's departments who will deliver the taught modules, you'll coordinate the timing and appropriateness of laboratory activities for first, second year and MSc students, ensuring that these support the broader student learning experience. The teaching must support a coherent Programme of study and be based around a system and process approach. You will be expected to bring novel and effective teaching methods to integrate theoretical and practical capabilities to the students' practice. With teaching and assessing experience coupled with a strong background in leadership, you must be able to demonstrate good motivational skills and be a team player, as inter-team cooperation is essential in this multidisciplinary environment.

You'll have a good honours degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, with strong communication and negotiation skills – essential for with liaising with colleagues both in the departments and within MEE. The ability to create clear instructions to encourage student learning and engagement is important, along with creative problem solving skills and the ability to work without supervision. You should also be skilled in assessing and organising resources in order to plan and progress new activities whilst aligning your day-to-day work and goals with that of MEE's strategic vision.
